• Clinical Services are focused on delivering excellent clinical care as part of a multi-disciplinary team to children and adults and supporting their families.
• Research and teaching is undertaken and focused on the area of Genetic Medicine
The Department of Clinical Genetics is part of the Western Sydney Genetics Program (WSGP) which provides a comprehensive medical genetics service, including the Genetic Metabolic Disease Service and the Departments of Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Biochemical Genetics and Newborn Screening. This position includes provision of inpatient and outpatient clinical genetics services at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Westmead Hospital and rural outreach genetics clinics, and contribution to graduate and post-graduate medical teaching.

- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrician, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Certification as a Clinical Geneticist (HGSA) (by the time of commencement)
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and excellent interpersonal and professional relationships.
- Experience in the provision of a wide range of consultant clinical genetics services, including diagnosis and counselling for prenatal, paediatric and adult genetic disorders.
- Research experience and publication record in peer-reviewed journals in a genetics-related field.
- Experience in the supervision and teaching of medical students, paediatrician trainees, trainee clinical geneticists and genetic counsellors.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Higher degree or working towards a higher degree desirable.
