As a Registered Nurse Triage Clinician with the NSW Ambulance Virtual Clinical Care Centre (VCCC), you will:

  • Support patients who call 000 by conducting a secondary triage in a 24/7 service that delivers innovative, patient-centred virtual care (telehealth) across NSW
  • Help patients navigate their health needs to the most appropriate care pathway
  • Be part of a supportive and collaborative team environment of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Collaborate with NSW Ambulance teams to escalate care, notify Control Centres and ensure resources are dispatched when needed.
  • Work from a purpose-built state-of-the-art environment at NSW Ambulance, State Operations Centre in Sydney Olympic Park.

Essential Criteria

  • Holds current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated recent acute care clinical experience, equivalent to:
     * a minimum of five years full time experience (or part time equivalent) in an acute care setting; or
     * a minimum of three years full time experience incorporating emergency triage, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Demonstrates strong evidence-based practice, critical thinking and a commitment to quality improvement.
  • Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team and understands the complexities of delivering nursing care in a dynamic setting.
  • Actively pursues ongoing professional development and is committed to maintaining and improving clinical competence.
  • Communicates with clarity and confidence, using strong interpersonal, written, verbal and IT skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders.


Training and Start Dates

  • Comprehensive training will begin on your first day of employment, aligned with the available start dates.
  • A three-week full-time induction program (Monday to Friday) is provided as part of onboarding.
  • After completing the induction, you will transition into a 24/7 rotating roster (full or part-time).

  • Question 2: Describe a time where you have had to formulate and communicate an adherence or health plan to a patient where a communication barrier existed. How did you manage this? What protocols or tools have you used to assess risk levels in circumstances like these?

Conditions

  • There is no entitlement to Transferred Employees Benefit (TEB) or travel allowance associated with this opportunity.
  • No NSW Ambulance accommodation is provided.
  • Employees currently undertaking an Extended Care Paramedic or Intensive Care Paramedic consolidation periods are eligible to apply however will need to complete all training and return of service obligations before accepting any relief/acting opportunities.
  • Employees currently undertaking a Special Operations Team (SOT) consolidation period are not eligible to apply for positions other than SOT positions. This includes positions offered via merit selection, transfer lists or later transfer mechanism, expressions of interest or secondments.
