NSW Ambulance is a mobile health service provider with a long and proud service history to the community of NSW. We specialise in the provision of emergency and non-emergency, pre-hospital health care, retrieval and specialist transport services, major event planning and response, as well as community education. Our service is over 4000 strong and operates from over 300 locations across the state of NSW.
The Role:
Applicants must have qualified experience working in a Statutory service and must hold either a current Certificate to Practice or be currently undertaking the necessary training and work experience, as determined by NSW Ambulance to qualify as a Paramedic or Intensive Care Paramedic.
Applicants must also be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Paramedic Board of Australia. Evidence of recency of practice working in a Statutory Ambulance Service is required and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
This position provides front line out of hospital care, medical retrieval and health related transport for sick and injured people in an emergency and non-emergency setting, accurately assessing and documenting patients’ health and medical needs to determine and implement appropriate paramedical care in line with NSW Ambulance policies and procedures.

Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory conduct and services check including referee/supervisor check, a review of National Police check and review of the Service Check Register. A review of excess annual and sick leave, PDP status, ability to undertake full duties of the position and clearances from Professional Conduct & Integrity Unit, Ambulance Education Centre and Infection Control.
This application is for a Statewide and locations will be advised based on operational demand.
Applicants will be required to participate in pre-employment medical and drug testing and to meet the requirements of the Drug and Alcohol Policy.

- Credentialing Application Form
- Current Certificate to Practice Authority to Practice or Annual Practicing Certificate (for NZ Paramedics) or HCPC Registration (for UK Paramedics)
- Evidence of Paramedic Registration from the Paramedic Board of Australia (including an Application Number if in the process of obtaining an AHPRA)
- Recent Letter of Service from all current and/or previous Ambulance employer(s) confirming employment dates and the role/s held during the years of service
- Paramedic Scope of Practice
- Paramedic Qualifications (Degree and Transcript) certified by a Justice of the Peace
- Evidence of Residency (Australian or New Zealand Citizen/Permanent Resident) - If providing a permanent visa, provide a copy of your passport
- A complete full Driving History (including interstate and international history, if applicable) - Obtained within 3 months of application.
- Current Driver's License (Must be unrestricted and be willing to obtain Light Rigid Class)
- Evidence of Mandatory Vaccinations

Qualifications
- Applicants must hold all required certifications, licences, registrations and qualifications (including but not limited to current Certificate to Practice, registration as a paramedic, and a current NSW Driver Licence) and undertake necessary and relevant training and work experience as determined by NSW Ambulance.
- High standard of clinical care and knowledge to provide effective out of hospital patient care in diverse situations.
- Clinical reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills to assess patient’s needs and review patient health care records in determining best care alternatives. Listening, oral and written communication skills to collect record and convey clear, concise and accurate information in the completion of patient health care records and written reports, by radio, telephone and in person.
- Computer literacy with demonstrated ability to learn and operate new and existing electronic patient records, data terminals etc.
- Planning and organising skills to effectively manage own time and prioritise workload, with the ability to manage stress and maintain performance under pressure without negative impact on self or others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment to support the completion of team goals and ensure the continuity of patient care within the NSW Health system.
- Integrity, empathy and respect for ethical and professional standards including patient confidentiality and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive matters.
