About Special Care Nursery
We are a state of the art level 4 special care service delivering safe high quality care to neonates. We provide care for neonates who require specialised medical and nursing support born within our hospital from 32 weeks gestation. Our nursery also provides care for neonates transferred from other hospitals as part of the neonatal network and ongoing care for downward transfers from tertiary facilities from 30 weeks’ gestation.

What you will be doing
We are a forward thinking unit which has implemented improvements in care based on latest evidence. This role will see you be given opportunities to undertake comprehensive educational programs in neonatal care as well as being involved in advancing further improvements in neonatal care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated nurses to join our team. You must possess excellent communication skills, be able to work within a team and will be expected to deliver a high standard of care using a family centred holistic approach.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
- Knowledge and understanding of women and newborn centred care, evidenced based practice and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated recent experience in the specialty of Neonatal Nursing through the capacity to provide effective, high quality nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
- Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/seven day week rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, responsibly, and accountably with minimal supervision and effectively manage the use of staff and physical resources when rostered In Charge of Shift in SCN.
- Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others effective communications written and verbal skills. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Evidence of advanced theoretical knowledge and expertise in the provision of comprehensive care for the sick and/or premature neonate, including care and management of neonates requiring positive airway pressure (BCPAP) and/or short term ventilation.
