Ryde Hospital Emergency Department

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

What you'll be doing
The Patient Services Admission Officer, Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for the timely admission  
(administrative) and/or transfer of all patients who present to Emergency Department. The position plays a pivotal role in interviewing, correctly classifying patients and providing accurate and timely information about using private health insurance within the public hospital system. Other general Emergency Department administrative functions which also includes providing switchboard relief.   

The Patient Services Admission Officer (ED) is part of a wider Administration and Patient Services Unit that supports and works with the Integrated Booking Unit and Revenue Department.   

The Patient Services Admissions Officer (ED) will work under broad supervision but will be required to take some independent action. Scope exists for exercising initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures. Decisions affecting the overall function and management of the Clerical and Admission functions will remain the responsibility of Administration and Patient Services Manager and Nurse Manager (ED). 
 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

 

  1. Demonstrated computer and data entry experience.
  2. Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Capacity to work under broad supervision and undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team in a high pressure, high work volume environment.
