About the Role
The applicant must have skills capable of participating in a general orthopaedic trauma at a level 6 hospital with a Major Trauma Service (MTS). There is an expectation to participate in the general on call roster. It is desirable if the applicant can provide a consultation service in support of the management of neonatal hip conditions and in particular dysplasia.
Purpose of the Position
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.

- Sound clinical knowledge in Orthopaedic Surgery demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Orthopaedic Surgery Consultant including Subspecialty Fellowship Training in Hip and Knee Surgery.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
- Knowledge, experience and willingness to act as primary admitting consultant and coordinate care of complex multi trauma admissions, as part of the RNSH Trauma Service.
