What you'll be doing
The Patient Liaison Officer plays a pivotal role in promoting the use of private health insurance by providing accurate and timely information about using private health insurance in a public hospital.
The position is to provide support, advice and mentoring to other Emergency Department admission team members and General Admissions to ensure a standardised approach to private patient election and other classifications. The role provides support in training admissions staff and implementing strategies that maximise revenue through the admissions areas.
The Patient Liaison Officer is part of a wider Administration team and works closely with the General Admission unit, Emergency Unit and Revenue to support an efficient team that is able to accurately and efficiently admit and classify patients entering HKH.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
- Extensive knowledge of patient financial classifications and private health insurance in public hospitals and hospital admissions processes and software platforms.
- Experience in delivering in-service and other education sessions.
