What you'll be doing
The Chief Medical Radiation Scientist (Radiographer) in the Medical Imaging Department at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Hospital (HKH) reports to the Manager of Medical Services, the Director of Medical Services, and the Clinical Director of Medical Imaging. This role oversees the department's daily operational management and encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including clinical practice, human resource management, governance and compliance, education and training, quality assurance, financial management, procurement, performance monitoring, and commissioning of imaging services. The role is pivotal in organising and directing the department's daily activities to ensure the delivery of optimal health outcomes for patients.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
- Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent qualification accredited by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) as rendering the holder eligible for membership, registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and possess a licence to operate irradiating apparatus under the NSW Radiation Control Act (NSW EPA Radiation Licence)
- Postgraduate management qualifications and/or equivalent management experience in a complex health environment
- Demonstrated experience in human resource management, including recruitment, payroll and performance appraisal
- Experience in the management and implementation of WHS Principles, quality assurance and Radiation Safety
- Proven ability in the establishment and maintenance of clinical protocols, policies and safe work practices
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organisational skills, including goal achievement, workload prioritization, and problem solving
- Knowledge and application of the financial management of cost centres
