About the role

Working as part of a whole of government response to the natural disasters in NSW. Working collaboratively with existing health services, regional hospitals and emergency services agencies in the affected communities. Working within a stepped care framework in collaboration with general practitioners, allied health professionals, schools, public mental health services, and private psychologists and psychiatrists. Working closely with the local Primary Health Network to ensure people are able to access the right level of mental health care for their individual needs. 
 
The objectives of the Disaster Recover Team are to:
  • Ensure that disaster affected individuals can access appropriate and timely clinical services to deal with mental health needs arising from the disasters.
  • Target vulnerable population groups across the region.
  • Ensure emergency services staff and volunteers can access appropriate and timely clinical services to deal with mental health needs arising from the disasters.
The position is currently funded until June 2027.
