About Us

NBMLHD Community Mental Health offers a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

This position is dedicated to delivering high-quality clinical Social Work Mental Health services to individuals experiencing mental illness or mental disorders. The approach is grounded in principles that are least intrusive, collaborative, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented. It places strong emphasis on family engagement and responsiveness, while integrating evidence-based interventions that promote self-advocacy and personal empowerment. The ultimate goal is to support individuals in building the capacity for optimal independent functioning within their community, fostering resilience and long-term wellbeing.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Bachelor's degree in social work with post graduate experience in mental health and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  2. Demonstrated skills in mental health Social Work assessments and social and clinical interventions and demonstrated experience working with people with mental illness.
  3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of trauma informed care and recovery principles in mental health service provision.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of culturally sensitive practice and commitment to Aboriginal mental health and wellbeing principles and practice improvement.
  5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
  6. Computer competence and literacy.
  7. Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007
  8. Current Driver’s License and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position
