Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Nepean Occupational Therapy service on a full time assignment. The successful candidate will provide senior clinical leadership, staff supervision/support and mentoring, and optimisation of client care delivery within the service.

This position will see you coordinate, facilitate, and support student programs for Occupational Therapy and Allied Health Assistant students across the district and provide clinical caseload management. The role also supports students that are appointed to district placements and ensuring students are offered maximum opportunity to provide services, exposure to training & education, and support final year students in preparation for job seeking and interview readiness.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Tertiary Occupational Therapy qualifications and current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
  2. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
  3. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills in an acute hospital setting with ability to provide clinical services of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills.
  4. Extensive experience in student supervision and demonstrated commitment and experience in clinical education and the capability to supervise, coach and develop student and staff competency, utilising adult education principles.
  5. Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in reflective practice, negotiation, conflict resolution, advocacy and change management.
  6. Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills in an environment of competing clinical and administrative demands.
  7. Demonstrated experience and skills in working within a multidisciplinary team and proficiency in collaborating and engaging with external agencies and stakeholders.
  8. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes with other staff.
