About this role
As Director, Forensic and Analytical Science Service, you will provide strategic direction, governance, and leadership for statewide forensic and analytical science services. You’ll foster cross-sector partnerships, ensure high-quality service delivery, and support public health, legal, and investigative outcomes for the NSW community.
Leading a nationally recognised service of over 400 professionals this position will enhance its customer focussed culture ensuring legislative and performance outcomes in partnership with key stakeholders including NSW Police, Department of Justice and NSW Health. The successful candidate will have executive-level experience, strengths in governance and compliance frameworks, demonstrated of leadership of high performing teams, a proven track record achievement in forensic science, forensic medicine, pathology and/or public health services. With strong ability to perform under pressure this position will lead responses to critical incidents, major investigations and public health emergencies.
This role will represent NSW as an executive member of the Australia New Zealand Forensic Executive Committee (ANZFEC), developing and sustaining positive proactive relationships with key industry stakeholders and cross-jurisdictional networks to identify trends, leverage knowledge and intelligence, and fully inform Forensic and Analytical Science Services strategic decision-making processes.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent senior executive experience in a complex scientific environment. Advanced capabilities in customer service, collaboration, planning, problem-solving, project management, and people development, as outlined in the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $247,865 to $272,811 per annum (SOORT 2025), with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent senior executive experience in a complex scientific environment.
- Substantial executive-level experience, with a record of leadership and achievement in forensic science, forensic medicine, pathology and/or public health services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of governance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks relevant to pathology, forensic, and public health services.
- Proven ability to drive strategic planning, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and deliver high-quality outcomes in demanding contexts.
- Advanced capabilities in customer service, collaboration, planning, problem-solving, project management, and people development, as outlined in the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework.
