Genetic Counsellor - Coffs Harbour Health Campus - Temp Fulltime/Part Time

1. A registered nurse with at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition you must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to the field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate; or an undergraduate degree in a non-nursing, non-medical discipline and in addition hold a post graduate qualification in genetic counselling or have attained Part I certification in genetics counselling from the Human Genetics Society of Australasia.
2. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in the provision of client-focused counselling to individuals and families.
3. Demonstrated ability to liaise with relevant hospital and health professionals, community groups, services and agencies in the provision and development of client –focused services.
4. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Demonstrated capacity to be self-motivated and effectively manage a complex and varied workload within a multidisciplinary setting.
6. Demonstrated sound understanding of the issues relating to patient and workplace confidentiality, privacy and ethics.
7. Demonstrated effective desktop computer skills, including in Microsoft Office suite, and experience in using TraKgene or other relevant data bases.
8. Current driver’s licence valid for used in NSW.
