What you'll be doing

This exciting permanent position will provide a mix of Hospital Consultation Liaison (HCL) and ambulatory withdrawal management within the scope of a CNC1 across the region as part of a senior clinical nursing team.

To provide expert clinical consultancy and services within the AOD Specialty whilst working in the domains and the functions of the CNC 1 role. The aim of this role is to improve access to treatment and outcomes for people with stimulant and other substance related disorders. 

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).  

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FROM THIS RECRUITMENT ACTIVITY MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES

  1. Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and post graduate qualifications in the relevant field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  2. Demonstrated high level experience and ability in assessment and management of substance use disorders and management of withdrawal states.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary opioid substitution treatments and regulation related to opioid treatment programs.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, conduct and evaluate education sessions for the health workforce.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and also to work collaboratively with clients, carers, the multidisciplinary team and services across the continuum.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
  7. Demonstrated ability in leading and initiating activities to improve service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
  8. Current NSW driver's license and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
