What you'll be doing

Practicing and promoting safe, efficient and effective nursing care that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.  

The Registered Nurse Opioid Treatment Program coordinates and delivers high quality person-centred nursing care in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice for Registered Nurses, and the Policies and Procedures of the MoH and MNCLHD. 

Nursing care is provided utilising the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery for people with Alcohol or Other Drug (AOD) issues.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).  

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

  1. Current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  2. An understanding of the principles of opioid agonist treatment options available.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice, quality improvement and person-centred care including Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use problem solving skills and a multidisciplinary team approach in the planning, delivery, and coordination of patient care.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to practice in accordance with legislation, policies and within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse.
  6. Demonstrated effective communication using information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  7. Valid unrestricted drivers license for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
  8. Availability and capacity to participate in a seven-day roster including public holidays.
