The Opportunity

Provide specialist counselling, support and advocacy for children, young people and adults subjected to sexual violence and their non-offending family members.
About You

Do you hold a Bachelor of Social Work and are you eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)?  Are you registered as a psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)?  Do you have demonstrated high level of clinical expertise in counselling skills, crisis response in working with child, adolescents and adult victims of violence?  Do you work from a feminist perspective?  Do you have a sound understanding of trauma informed/violence informed frameworks?  If so, we want to hear from you!

The Organisation

The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is a government funded health organisation that covers an area of 11,335 kilometres extending from Port Macquarie in the south to Coffs Harbour in the north.  MNCLHD provides a diverse range of services to a population of approximately 215,000 people.  It has a workforce of 4,964 across seven hospitals and 12 Community Health Centres.

This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

A TALENT POOL MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE ROLES AND WILL REMAIN VALID FOR 18 MONTHS.

 

  1. Bachelor of Social Work and current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  2. Demonstrated high level of clinical expertise in counselling skills in working with child, adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault and their non-offending family members or friends within a trauma framework.
  3. Demonstrated proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet competing deadlines and demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team across the interagency framework.
  5. Proven knowledge and skills in the development and delivery of professional education, community development and primary intervention programmes.
  6. Extensive capability in working effectively with key stakeholders.
  7. High level skills and knowledge of crisis intervention within a tertiary trauma setting and participation in a 24 hour On Call Service.
  8. Current unrestricted class C NSW Drivers Licence.
