What you'll be doing
To provide mental health services to residents of the Mid North Coast Local Health District Service aged over 65 years, or over 50 years if an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. 

This will include mental health triage; assessment; clinical intervention, treatment and care planning.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).  

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FROM THIS RECRUITMENT ACTIVITY MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES

  1. Qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or qualifications recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.; or qualifications eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding and practical application of clinical issues relation provision of Specialist Health Services for Older Persons (SMHSOPs).
  3. Demonstrated ability in the implementation of evidence based therapeutic interventions for acutely mentally unwell consumers
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and Amendments, and National Mental Health Standards (2010), and Best Practice guidelines for service delivery in mental health.
  5. Competent computer skills utilising varied and appropriate software programs (eg word processing, data management systems and spreadsheets)
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people
  7. Advanced clinical skills in mental health with triage, assessment, care planning, treatment, discharge planning and review in relation to acutely unwell mental health consumers.
  8. Current unrestricted Drivers Licence and ability to travel as required
