Play a pivotal role in supporting emergency care by using your administrative expertise to help deliver efficient, patient centered services in a dynamic clinical environment.
- The Emergency Department Administration Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, timely emergency administrative care by providing highly focused quality administrative and customer service support in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- This role requires prior administration skills at an intermediate level and is not an entry level role.
- Working as part of a dedicated Emergency Department administration team, the role collaborates closely with clinicians and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow and positive experiences for patients and families.
- Through accurate registration, admissions, effective communication, and the respectful handling of sensitive information, this position contributes directly to patient centered care while developing a broad range of administrative and organisational skills across a 24-hour, seven-day service.
- As a fulltime staff member you will be required to work shifts already templated on a drop down line rotating roster. The roster has mornings, afternoons and night shifts each month. This is a compulsory requirement of the role.

- Your commitment to delivering high quality, respectful customer service in a fast paced, patient focused environment, dealing with diverse communities accessing health services through the Emergency Department.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary environment with patients, families, clinicians, and colleagues both in person and over the phone.
- Highly organised with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities accurately and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong computer and data entry skills, including use of hospital or administrative information systems.
- Reliable, adaptable team player who shows initiative, can work independently, and must be available to work a 24/7 rotating roster in a busy Emergency Department.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high-quality administrative and clerical support in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Computer literacy and accuracy with proficient computer skills with high-accuracy data entry, and experience using complex databases or electronic medical records.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to interact empathetically with distressed patients and diverse communities.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff. Availability and willingness to work a templated drop down line 24/7 rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, nights weekends, and public holiday shifts.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise urgent tasks, multi-task effectively, and maintain emotional resilience under pressure with a solid understanding of patient privacy legislation, confidentiality requirements, observe NSW Health CORE values and a commitment to abiding by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
