Introducing the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAHMU), a fresh, purpose built 10-bed facility dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are navigating complex and severe mental health challenges. This state-of-the-art inpatient unit is the newest chapter in the Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYFMH) story, expanding its reach to provide compassionate, specialised care from the earliest stages of life through to young adulthood. NAHMU isn’t just a place of healing, it’s a vital step forward in empowering young people and their families with the support they need, when they need it most.
An exciting opportunity is available for a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) to join the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAMHU). This senior nursing role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about advancing specialist clinical practice and contributing to the delivery of high-quality mental health care for young people.
As a CNS2 within NAMHU, you will provide senior clinical leadership in the development and enhancement of specialist nursing practice and service delivery. You will utilise advanced clinical skills and demonstrate a high level of professional judgement, working with a significant degree of autonomy to support safe, effective, and person-centred care. Your expertise will contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical standards and outcomes within the service.

What you will bring to the role
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA. Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in Mental Health/Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a clinical leadership role and use critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based Nursing care.
- Demonstrated effective communications written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work a flexible roster, day evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit or team requirements.
