The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Movement Disorders provides advanced and complex care coordination for patients as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
The CNC will provide expert support to patients undergoing treatment within both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
 
To provide expert clinical consultancy and services, and practice within the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) domains.
 
The CNC will demonstrate leadership in promoting contemporary nursing models of care within St George Hospital and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. A Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience relevant to management of neurologic conditions, including but not limited to Nursing in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation medicine, Rheumatology and Orthopaedics. Evidence of an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level relevant to the areas of neurological health care.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and also work collaboratively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team using current research and evidence.
  4. Demonstrable high level clinical experience and leadership, competency, and expertise in neurological nursing including experience in assessment and management of patients and their families with acute complex needs.
  5. Effective organisational, time management, research and computer skills and proven ability to assess, plan, initiate, and manage complex cases and work to goals and targets.
  6. Excellent interpersonal communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to maintain and establish networks across multiple disciplines and within the LHD.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development and quality improvement.
  8. Demonstrated recent experience in the specialty in an acute care facility.
