Liverpool Hospital’s Speech Pathology Department is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Speech Pathologist to lead our award-winning Ready Set Go program. This innovative paediatric service is renowned for embedding the latest evidence-based practices into clinical care and contributing to cutting-edge research through strong academic partnerships.
In this role, you will take charge of the Ready Set Go program, supporting children in the Liverpool area (postcode 2168) with a range of communication and feeding difficulties. You will work closely with the paediatric team leader to guide, supervise, and support a dedicated team of professionals, delivering group-based services in clinical, community, and educational settings. A focus on capacity building for families and educators is central to the role, as is the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams.
As a senior member of the department, your responsibilities will include clinical supervision, program evaluation, stakeholder engagement (including partnerships with Mission Australia), and leading quality improvement initiatives. What You'll be Doing
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to children with communication and feeding difficulties . As a senior clinician the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of paediatric clients with a range of communication and feeding difficulties and other complexities or specialised needs. They will also contribute to senior departmental duties including clinical supervision, leading of quality improvement activities, participation in service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.
The senior speech Pathologist will contribute to the teaching, research, and clinical practice advancement of the discipline of Speech Pathology in SWSLHD.
Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which is accredited as eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in assessing and managing paediatric clients with a variety of communication disorders and feeding difficulties in a community health type setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, vulnerable and/or at risk communities ensuring the provision of client/family centred care.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to EBP and experience implementing EBP into service planning and evaluation of service changes.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
- Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
