Come and be a O&G here in Bega – it’s great!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified O&G to join the multidisciplinary team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.

Where you'll be working

South East Regional Hospital (SERH), which opened in 2016, is one of the two main modern hospitals in Southern NSWLHD and is located in the Yuin Nation near the beautiful south coast of NSW. Clients and patients can be seen across a number of settings, including community health centres, in hospital or their homes as required. Aboriginal health services are available throughout the service. Our team of friendly, highly trained health professionals provide excellent services for residents and visitors. SERH and Pambula District Hospital are part of the Coastal Network within the Southern NSW Local Health District.

Between 250 to 300 babies are birthed at SERH each year. The maternity service is a Level 3 capability with on-site Paediatrician support and a level 2 special care nursery. There is great local demand for Gynaecology services. SERH undertakes primarily general gynaecology and this role includes access to regular operating lists and the opportunity to bring a special gynaecology interest/subspecialty to the area.

You will work with a team of committed midwives and GP Obstetricians to provide a multi-disciplinary and contemporary maternity service. The unit will be moving to a Midwifery Group Practice model of care in 2024. SERH is part of The Canberra Hospital Tiered Perinatal Network, with highly functional and collaborative care arrangements which provides great support to the whole of SNWLHD.

We are keen to implement a roster of  7 days on-call, the frequency of which can be negotiated in a collaborative model of care, working with very good local GP Obstetricians and Midwives.  Opportunities include an option to explore continuing professional development at The Canberra Hospital.
