What you'll be doing
  • Provide high level expertise on clinical interventions relating to mental health and/or drug and Alcohol, and consultation for supervision and clinical reviews in an integrated, person centred and evidence-based approach.
  • To work within the NSW Health Rehabilitation and Recovery model of care framework and assist in working with consumers and families on their goals
  • Provide supervision and performance support to students and staff across the FWLHD MHDA portfolio.
  • Provide timely advise to the unit managers and deputy director on systemic issues relating to mental health services
  • Provide oversight and assistance in day and group programs for consumers ensuring evaluation of program to meet the needs of the community
  • Act as a lead and advocate for moving consumers between services to ensure the right care needs at the right time.
  • Act as a lead and representative with internal and external stakeholders around clinical governance, policy development and service provision across the FWLHD MHDA portfolio.
  • Assist in assessments and intake from CMHT, SPOT and SafeHaven  to access MH beds in a timely fashion to reduce the need for Emergency department assessments.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible. 

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership Social Work Association, with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • Demonstrated extensive specialist knowledge and experience in social work and mental health, drug, and alcohol service provisions, including advanced clinical reasoning and ability to apply professional judgement on complex or critical tasks autonomously.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in work health and safety, clinical governance, and quality improvement with the proven ability to lead change to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers and their families to enhance health outcomes.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills together with willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues and students.
  • Demonstrated leadership in effective communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues or concerns when communicating with others.
  • Current licence to drive in NSW.
