About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Physiotherapy Team at Liverpool Hospital on a permanent full-time / part-time basis working in the Emergency Department. The Senior Emergency Department Physiotherapist will work in a primary and secondary contact role, assessing and treating patients across the age span who have presented with a range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological, respiratory and aged care conditions.

It is an exciting time to be joining the team as the Emergency Department undergoes redevelopment and moves into the new ED in the coming months. The position will work a shift pattern, including extended hours and weekends, and will be responsible for supervision of Level 1/2 staff. The position is permanent full time, and /or part-time/job share depending on applicant suitability and availability.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Emergency Department Physiotherapist is responsible for providing high quality physiotherapy services to patients presenting to the Emergency Department at Liverpool Hospital, including, but not limited to, the assessment and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, respiratory conditions and the frail aged. This position also contributes to the Aged Care Services Emergency Team, focused on early assessment, intervention, and discharge and will also work extended hours and weekend shifts on a rotating basis.

 

Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Current Physiotherapy Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Extensive clinical physiotherapy experience demonstrating high level of knowledge and clinical expertise in the physiotherapy management of patients with musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, respiratory  conditions and the frail aged.
  3. Relevant clinical experience including demonstrated advanced practice skills and management of a complex physiotherapy caseload.
  4. Demonstrated experience in supervision and teaching of staff and/or students.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and evidence based practice.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quality improvement, research and service development activities.
  7. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
