This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced MSK physiotherapist to lead the RNSH and Ryde OACCP service, with direct contact with local world renown Rheumatologist and researchers from Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, Kolling Institute of Medical Research, The University Of Sydney.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Musculoskeletal Coordinator position is to provide clinical leadership within the NSLHD, implementation, ongoing collaboration and evaluation of the Osteoarthritis Chronic Care Program (OACCP) at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) and Ryde Hospital in close collaboration with the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) Musculoskeletal Network. 

The OACPP Coordinator will provide advanced practice and high quality Senior Physiotherapy clinical skills, knowledge and experience working with chronic care populations and as part of the multidisciplinary team in delivery of the OACCP Model of Care, as described by the ACI based soundly on the principles of evidence based practice and will ensure timely data collection and reporting as required

The service will provide comprehensive chronic care services to people who have primary osteoarthritis of the hip and/or knee and related comorbidities who are waiting to undergo elective joint replacement surgery or are referred by their specialist or general practitioner for conservative management. This will include providing comprehensive holistic assessment; access to multidisciplinary care; psychological and social support; education and self-management support; promotion of lifestyle changes including exercise and weight loss; pharmacological management of pain; and undertaking routine and planned reviews.

They may also conduct clinical research collaborating with the Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, Kolling Institute of Medical Research, The University Of Sydney.   Participate in the provision of clinical in-service education programmes, quality improvement projects and teaching staff and students.

Provide clinical consultation across the NSLHD and senior clinical support and management of physiotherapists and multidisciplinary team (Rheumatology, Dietetics, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and Orthotist).


People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:


  1. Must hold qualifications recognised for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge of Physiotherapy, a high level of contemporary intervention skills, and demonstrated senior expertise in delivery, direction and management of physiotherapy services. Must have experience as a level 2 Physiotherapist.
  2. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) and demonstrated computer literacy skills.
  3. Capacity to provide clinical and service consultation, and staff supervision.
  4. Demonstrated experience in conducting service development, quality improvement activities and professional education.
  5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders including high level committees, written reports and submissions, and conference and seminar presentations.
  6. Proven clinical leadership skills with an ability to contribute as a district expert in the field of Physiotherapy.
