The Emergency Medicine Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead

Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  
Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
 
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
 
The Postgraduate Fellow in Emergency will ensure that:
 
• Clinical services in the Emergency Department are focused on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• On-call and recall roster is maintained and the Emergency team functions in line with wider organisational plans.
• Research and teaching, review and improvement activities are undertaken and focused on the area of paediatric emergency medicine.
• They abide by the Code of Conduct, and participate in annual performance reviews.


  1. Eligible for medical registration in Australia and hold a fellowship of the RACP or ACEM or other paediatric specialist qualification with a demonstrated interest in further Paediatric Emergency Medicine training.
  2. Significant experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine as a fellow or a consultant in a tertiary paediatric hospital.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care.
  7. Experience as a senior clinician in the care of critically ill children and completion of APLS qualification or equivalent.
  8. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
