Bear Cottage is a hospice dedicated to children and their families and is situated in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Bear Cottage cares for children with terminal conditions and their families in a home like environment. The Housekeeping team work alongside a positive and passionate team of staff and volunteers to support children with life limiting illness and their families.

Bear Cottage was established in 2001 and is a unique facility that allows parents and siblings to stay in a home like environment without the pressures of everyday life to relax and reconnect with their child and other families.

 About the role

We currently have a Permanent Part time role available for 24 hours per week. The shifts are 6 hours/day, generally day shift, on a flexible 7 day/week roster pattern. Work may be required on weekends, public holidays and during school holidays depending on your roster. Some flexibility can be accommodated in the start and finish times of your shifts.

What you'll be doing

Ensure Bear Cottage is maintained in a clean and tidy state for all patients and families at Bear Cottage.

The Housekeeping team are responsible in keeping the hospice clean and tidy. The Housekeepers role is general cleaning to a hospital grade standard, preparing patient and family rooms, and laundry.

 About You

  • Attention to detail and a 'can-do' personality are essential.
  • Desire for part time work across a 7-day week
  • Prior experience providing high quality cleaning services
  •  Ability to communicate effectively with both staff and families

Please note that throughout the recruitment process you will be assessed with the following:

  1. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality cleaning services with previous experience in a healthcare facility or commercial/industrial cleaning role
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, with all levels of staff, as well as patients/clients and members of the public
  3. Demonstrated ability & capacity to work independently and as part of a team with a commitment to customer service
  4. Knowledge of work health and safety principles, including safe manual handling and infection control
  5. Ability to take the initiative & respond to changes in cleaning requirements, with ability to prioritise tasks and problem solve
  6. Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays.
