What you'll be doing
The Research Nurse Manager utilises high level, comprehensive, project management skills to evaluate the role scope and activity of clinical nurse consultants within the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. 
  • The project is a NSW Health funded Nursing Midwifery Strategy Reserve (NMSR) Project that is aligned with Future directions for health in NSW: towards 2025 / NSW Government 
  • Health Workforce Plan 2022–2032: to build greater flexibility and responsiveness into our workforce 
  • NSW Health Workforce Plan 2022-2032 Support the existing workforce. 
  • SCHN Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027: Transforming health care for children and young people 
The position will undertake the full scope of project management activities including project planning, stakeholder negotiation, milestone reporting, project implementation and evaluation.
This initiative will provide a structure to support CNCs in fulfilling their advanced clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, leadership qualities, collaborative abilities, and a commitment to professional development

The activities of this initiative include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Review current literature and previous key research completed that support the premise of this initiative. 
  • Engagement with relevant key stakeholders to determine the development framework and identify structures and processes required for implementation and evaluation. 
  • Development and pilot implementation of a CNC Mentoring Program to provide opportunities to share learning, mentoring others, developing professional relationships, and participating in alternative team environments. 
  • Develop and pilot a suite of development opportunities and tools that allow for tailored learning based on the 70/20/10 rule of development (Experiential/Peer-to-Peer/Formal Education) 
  • Review and contemporise evaluation tools to support ongoing development of CNCs into the future. 
  • Explore the scalability of the program to other LHDs, particularly those with paediatric services. 
  1. Registered nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Post graduate qualification and/or demonstrated experience in health services management or project management or working towards.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of current directions in nursing professional matters and demonstrated ability to lead and influence organisational change.
  4. Demonstrated experience in successful project management from inception through to evaluation and completion, including human resource, financial and risk management and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate associated evidence-based policies and procedures.
  5. Demonstrated high level of mastery in interpersonal skills, communication, negotiation and decision- making skills with a diverse range of stakeholders to meet organisational priorities.
  6. Proven higher order thinking, planning and delivery against objectives using conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to resolve competing demands and meet deadlines.
  7. Willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
