Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position(s) in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position(s) will be primarily located at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals within the Department of Urology.
Successful applicants may be required to provide on-call duties as part of the district wide Urology roster.
The appointed VMO will not have any facility allocated elective waitlist and will not have an elective waiting list. This position will be supervising emergency lists, ad hoc waitlist elective operative sessions to prevent breached elective cases and providing leave cover of outpatient clinics and elective theatre sessions as required.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within three months, may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Essential Requirements for Appointment
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
2. Sound clinical knowledge in urology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
3. Membership to the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand would be highly regarded.
4. Applicants who have extensive experience in the surgical treatment of urinary stone disease and benign prostatic obstruction would be highly regarded.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.
