Primary Care Strategic Advisor

The Cancer Institute NSW is the NSW Government’s cancer control agency, established to lessen the impact of cancer across the state.

What you’ll be doing 

We are seeking an individual with demonstrated experience and understanding of the current and emerging needs of the Primary Care sector and cancer control to undertake the lead role of our Primary Care Team.

The position is responsible for leading the team in the development, implementation and management of projects and initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders that align with the NSW Cancer Plan and the NSW Primary Health Care Cancer Framework.

The role fosters strong relationships and networks across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate collaboration and engagement amongst the primary care sector and requires advanced skills in verbal and written communication and leading people.

The role supports the review and analysis of data, policy and evidenced based research to identify new opportunities and initiatives and inform and guide planning, project development in the primary care portfolio and expand primary care cancer capability.

By fulfilling these diverse responsibilities, the role contributes significantly to the enhancement of cancer control within the primary care sector and the advancement of the priorities outlined in the NSW Cancer Plan.


Remuneration/Benefits
 

In addition to base salary: 

  • 11.5% superannuation 
  • 4 weeks annual leave (plus 17.5% leave loading)

Essential requirements
 

  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in health, such as population health, health promotion or primary care
    • Highly developed people leadership, stakeholder engagement, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key Primary Health Care organisations and stakeholders.
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the primary health care sector and its role within the wider health care system in relation to cancer control
    • Significant experience managing strategic relationships with a broad suite of stakeholders
    • Understanding of the NSW Government and NSW Health system.

If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel.

  1. Please outline your experience in management of a project or initiative to improve outcomes in the provision of services amongst the Primary care sector given the variety and complexity of systems.
