An exciting opportunity exists for a suitability qualified registered nurse in the new position of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (ASCT) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC).

Where you'll be working
Royal North Shore Hospital
The CNC will work closely with the multidisciplinary team within the Neurology department as well as the Haematology department to provide holistic case management for a range of patients.
What you'll be doing
The CNC will demonstrate leadership in promoting contemporary nursing management for patients with Multiple Sclerosis with a key focus on those who are undergoing Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (ASCT) therapies or those who may be considered for such treatment.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert in nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices.
The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience working in Neurology/Neuroimmunology/Multiple Sclerosis in an acute hospital environment. Additionally, the applicant must have relevant post registration qualifications (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards a Master’s level qualification in an appropriate speciality.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team using current research and evidence.
- Demonstrated high level clinical experience and leadership, competency and expertise in Neurology including experience working with patients with MS and those who have complex Neurology needs.
- Effective organisational, time management, research and computer skills, and proven ability to assess, plan, initiate and manage complex cases and work towards goals and targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to maintain and establish networks across multiple disciplines and within the LHD.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development and quality improvement.
