About Us

NBMLHD’s Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health.  Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.


The Manager for Health Promotion has a key responsibility within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District for
the strategic and operational management of projects, programs, and initiatives that address the areas of healthy children, healthy eating and active living, healthy ageing, youth health, men’s health, women’s health, and tobacco control, consistent with the NSW Ministry of Health priorities.


The position supports and provides leadership for additional targeted population groups as required. The successful incumbent will manage the Health Promotion team by providing high level direction, advice, leadership and day-to-day people management of direct reports.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or public sector management or equivalent senior industry experience along with relevant high-level experience in managing population health/health promotion programs.
  2. In depth understanding of current and emerging national and state-wide priorities and issues in Population Health.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with strategic thinking and development, implementation and evaluation of health policies, plans, programs, and service improvement initiatives in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and to meet key performance indicators.
  4. Proven expertise in project management and in developing and supporting partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  5. Demonstrated experience in driving performance and organisational change according to local and State priorities to achieve agreed objectives.
  6. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, negotiation, communication, and motivational skills which show a capacity to build achieving teams with a focus on high quality outcomes.
  7. Excellent organisational, prioritisation, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
