The District works with partner agencies to prepare, prevent, and recover from emergency situations and major incidents. The Health Emergency Management Coordinator supports the district to ensure a state of preparedness for the effective response to the hazard types identified in the NSW Health Incident Coordination Framework (PD2019_023). This has the potential to require a response under NSW HEALTHPLAN and NSW EMPLAN arrangements for Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. Situations may include adverse weather events/natural disasters, mass casualty events and major infrastructure disruptions.
A key function of this role is to ensure the Disaster Management Unit establishes good communication and relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both within and external to NBMLHD. This role will provide support to the NBMLHD Nurse Manager Health Emergency Management in all activities across the prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery spectrum in relation to emergency management. This includes including being on call after business hours, weekends, and public holidays.

What you will bring to the role:
- Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience in emergency management at a District level
- Demonstrated leadership within the workplace including the ability to form productive working relationships through high level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of emergency management principles and practices, including a sound understanding of risk management, contingency and recovery planning
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of health care providers and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated commitment to professional practice development
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
