About us:
Hunter Spinal Cord Injury Service (HSCIS) is a community based multidisciplinary health care service for those across the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and Lower Mid North Coast regions providing intensive involvement in new and long standing spinal cord injuries. This unique service treats clients in close collaboration with the State Spinal Cord Injury Service, iCare and local SCI networks that will extend your professional relationships. This highly skilled and dynamic team have scope to provide care in innovative ways including home base services, telehealth and groups enabling you to offer highly individualised care.
About the role:
The Clinical Psychologist at the HSCIS works closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide expert care to clients with spinal cord injury and their families. The service can be provided in the clinic, via telehealth or through home / community-based therapy dependent on what works best for the client. Teamwork is an integral part of the service, with weekly case conferences and joint consultations occurring where appropriate.
You will be supported by the Manager at the Hunter Spinal Cord Injury Service along with the multidisciplinary team of Allied Health and Nursing professionals.
Clinical supervision is available through the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) Psychology network or through the specialist Spinal Cord Injury services based at Royal North Shore Hospital or Royal Rehab Centre Sydney.
About you:
As the clinical psychologist with Hunter Spinal Cord Injury Service (HSCIS) you will have strong clinical skills and a passion for rehabilitation. Your time management, organisation and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team will have been well honed in previous roles. You will be equipped to provide clinical psychology alongside a team of medical, allied health and nursing professionals providing high quality care to clients, their families and carers. You will have a holistic approach to care with interest in management of persistent pain, adjustment to disability, sexuality and other mental health issues.
Requirements:
- Current registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
