The Nepean Cancer Care service is seeking to engage a Clinical Psychologist. The position will provides psychological assessment and interventions for patients of the oncology, haematology and palliative care service at Nepean Cancer Services and related inpatient units. The successful candidate will ensure provision of services to family members and carers of such patients where required. Team responsibilities include case discussion, appropriate referral, and a close effective working relationship with other psycho-social staff, under the direction of the head of psycho-oncology.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology and General Registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  3. Demonstrated skills in working with patients and carers in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing assessment, management planning and delivery of psychological services.
  4. Demonstrated experience in adult mental health including experience in cognitive-behavioural therapy and other relevant therapeutic techniques (which may include group therapy, ACT, mindfulness techniques, family therapy, among others).
  5. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience including the ability to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with patients and staff.
  6. Capacity and maturity to provide psychological support and education on psychosocial issues for staff.
  7. Computer literacy, and quality improvement / research skills.
