About the role: 

As a Clinical Nurse Educator at John Hunter Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of critical care nursing. Collaborating closely with Nurse Managers, Nurse Educators, and Clinical Nurse Consultants, you will design and deliver high-quality clinical education that drives excellence, fosters best practice, and enhances patient outcomes. 

In this dynamic role, you will provide ongoing support and education to ICU nurses through a diverse range of training initiatives and professional development activities. 

This position operates across a seven-day rotating roster, offering day shifts from Monday to Sunday.

Our 29-bed ICU is rapidly expanding and offers a wide range of speciality services, including Trauma, Neurology, Neurosurgery, ENT, General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. 

You will join a friendly, skilled, flexible, culturally diverse and compassionate workforce and will be supported in this role by our dedicated and multi-skilled team. You will be supported with an individualised orientation program, and we have a team of educators and staff that support and assist with providing learning opportunities for your ongoing development in the role.

Our ICU will be part of the new John Hunter Health Innovation Precinct scheduled for opening in June 2026, with a state-of-the-art purpose-built larger ICU currently under construction.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration.
  • Holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate.
