About the Opportunity
The Drug Health Services team at South Western Sydney Local Health District are seeking a flexible, adaptable and driven Clinical Nurse Consultant or Clinical Midwifery Consultant to join our growing service within the Substance Use in Parenting and Pregnancy Service (SUPPS).
The SWSLHD SUPPS program is a service that supports and provides treatment options for pregnant women with problematic substance use. The SWSLHD SUPPS program provides the following services: Intake assessment and treatment service for pregnant women with current/recent substance use. and case management for pregnant women, ante and postnatally.The program plans to extend the model to work with families for up to 2 years.
We are looking for a CNC or CMC that is dynamic, engaging and passionate about supporting mothers who have substance use issues in pregnancy, their babies and their families within a trauma informed framework.
Previous experience in Drug and Alcohol nursing is essential, a Midwifery qualification and experience is beneficial, but not essential.

What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Midwife or Nurse Consultant (CMC or CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CMC or CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership.
The CMC or CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CMC or CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife/Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. Drug and Alcohol experience is essential. - Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
- Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based midwifery care
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
