About the Opportunity
You will be working as part of a Public Health Unit to work with members of the SWSLHD public health unit and supporting your colleagues and other stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high quality care to the people of South Western Sydney. The team is a multidisciplinary team including Drs, Nurses, Epidemiologist and Data Quality Administrators.

The Public Health Unit comprises of a communicable diseases team, Immunisation team, Environmental health officers and Administration team which forms a part of the Population Service within SWSLHD and is based in the Liverpool CBD.

The Immunisation CNC coordinates services in conjunction with the NUM and ONM to minimise vaccine preventable illnesses in a large diverse community for schools and people across SWSLHD, including the school immunisation program, influenza, covid and to support communicable disease outbreaks as well as health promotion.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Immunisation is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence-based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care and service provision by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management and expert consultancy in the area of immunisation.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the specialty area of immunisation.
  3. Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care and advice that is culturally responsive to key stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with a range of key stakeholders and a multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness and flexibility to service provision to meet community needs.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care focused on immunisation.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
  8. Proven ability to consult, review, and develop, both new and existing policies and procedures within the relevant specialty of immunisation.
  9. Authorised immunisation provider and be knowledgeable about the NSW immunisation program.
  10. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
