South Western Sydney Local Health District’s Drug Health Services team is looking for an adaptable, driven, and compassionate Clinical Nurse Consultant or Clinical Midwifery Consultant to join our Substance Use in Parenting and Pregnancy Service (SUPPS).
SUPPS supports pregnant women navigating substance use challenges by offering tailored treatment options, case management, and comprehensive care during pregnancy and beyond. We're growing our service to extend support to families for up to two years postpartum, creating a lasting positive impact.

What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) / Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC/CMC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC/CMC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC/CMC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition an approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted
- Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
- Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
