About the role:
The Domestic and Family Violence Clinical Nurse Consultant (DFV CNC) will thrive in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with esteemed healthcare professionals across various fields. Operationally managed by Nursing Managers, the DFV CNC will work closely with Emergency Department Staff, Social Workers, and receive support from project managers and fellow CNC's specialising in women’s health and sexual assault, creating a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
The DFV CNC's week will encompass a blend of clinical practice, case management, and participation in team meetings. Key responsibilities include conducting forensic examinations - gathering evidence, documenting injuries, and providing essential medical care to domestic violence patients. They will also offer immediate emotional support, coordinate follow-up care, and advocate for patients needs alongside relevant stakeholders. Additionally, the DFV CNC will engage in regular meetings to discuss cases and enhance service delivery, as well as conduct educational sessions to equip healthcare professionals with knowledge about the forensic response to domestic and family violence. Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
- Applicants must be female under Section 31 (2) (h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Current authority to practice unrestricted as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current driving licence with eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes.

- You will possess a robust understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical procedures, which is essential for performing forensic examinations and delivering appropriate medical care. My specialized knowledge in forensic science, coupled with expertise in evidence collection and meticulous documentation techniques, empowers me to excel in this critical field.
- You will possess specialised expertise in forensic science, complemented by a deep understanding of evidence collection and advanced documentation techniques.
- You will have a have a profound ability to offer compassionate and supportive care to survivors of trauma, coupled with a keen understanding of the intricate psychological and emotional ramifications of domestic and family violence. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills further enhance capacity to connect with and advocate for those in need.
- You will have exceptional organisational and time management skills, enabling yourself to adeptly manage multiple cases, coordinate effectively with various agencies, and passionately advocate for the needs of patients.
Additional information:
- An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
- Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week commencing Monday 18th November 2024.
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
