About the Role:
  • An opportunity has become available for a CSSD Instrument Technician in our Central Sterilisation Department at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital.
  • The CSSD Technician assists in the provision of sterile supply of instruments and equipment to Theatre, Wards, Allied Health Departments and external agencies.
  • As an enthusiastic member of our CSSD team, you will be essential in providing high-quality service to theatres, the Day Procedure Centre, and other clinical areas.
  • The key responsibilities of the role include:
    • Collection, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation, and delivery of all Reusable Medical Devices.
    • Comply with current AS/NZ standard 4187 and GENCA Infection Control Guidelines.
    • Operate associated equipment safely to ensure the quality of reprocessed RMDs.
    • Provide Quality processed RMDs on time.
    • Comply with hospital and CSSD policies and work instructions to provide a sustained high level of service.
    • Working safely and harmoniously with the rest of the hospital team.
  • You will be supported by the CSSD supervisor and the Nurse Unit Manager.

  • The Armidale Rural Referral Hospital Operating Theatres provides critical care and surgical services for the population of Armidale and surrounds, as well as being the referral centre for smaller centres within the Tablelands cluster.
  • The Operating Theatres also strive to improve knowledge and provide best practice in the care of critically unwell patients and children through medical and nursing research, unit based educational programs and advocacy for patients.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a hospital environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Team player with respect for others.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of waste management principles.


Requirements:

  • Currently undertaking Certificate III in Sterilisation or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
