Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

 

An exciting opportunity is now available to join the team in Patient Flow, located at Nepean Hospital. This position available is a Nurse Manager Grade 3: Access and Demand  and is a Permanent  Full time role. 

The Access and Demand Nurse Manager within the Nursing and Midwifery Operations Centre (NMOC) provides operational direction with the Deputy Director of Nursing Midwifery to implement the operational and strategic direction of the NMOC to meet key performance indicators including Length of Stay (LOS) and Waiting for What (W4W).

The Access and Demand Nurse Manager contributes to the effective management of clinical operations within the NMOC including leadership of the NMOC Bed Managers, Continuing Care Coordinators and Transit Lounge staff. Working in collaboration across Nepean Hospital with the Nurse/Midwife Managers and Nurse/Midwife Unit Managers. This position contributes to the Nepean Hospital Nursing Executive team.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Current Registered Nurse with the National Registration with AHPRA and Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
  2. Postgraduate qualification in Health management and/or extensive relevant post registration experience in similar role.
  3. Broad recent clinical and operational management experience within a complex health care environment including operational planning in a Patient Flow Unit.
  4. Demonstrated leadership skills involving problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic bed base within a tertiary organisation and in managing key financial performance management goals
  6. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary management team
  7. A good understanding of the complexities of a tertiary health care environment.
  8. Computer literacy, ability to trend and interpret data and competent information seeking skills.
