About the Opportunity
Cabramatta Drug Health Services is recruiting for a Aboriginal Health Worker to complement and enhance the current Drug & Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) team.
What You'll be Doing
This position will promote the philosophy that health is an active state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to take action on health at individual, family and community levels.

- To be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination Act (1977)
- Certificate III in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or relevant qualification or willingness to complete and to undertake further training as identified.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health priorities and ability to effectively and sensitively liaise and communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Demonstrated successful experience in working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations as well as with government and non-government agencies
- Demonstrated skills in supporting client assessment, support, assistance and advocacy in health or related field and have the ability to develop and deliver culturally appropriate programs and resources and knowledge of drug and alcohol issues, harm reduction and treatment strategies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, sound written and oral communication skills and sound negotiation and organisational skills
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative ability including basic computer and time management skills
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
