The Role

 

To provide a responsive community based assessment and intervention service for young people with complex mental health needs in contact with the criminal justice system and their families. Providing mental health assessment, intervention and care coordination by incorporating discipline specific recommendations to the identification and formulation for young people and their families who are experiencing crisis or mental health complexity.


The Safeguard Service team which is community based and will provide rapid, mobile, intensive and flexible short term delivery of skilled evidence based interventions to improve outcomes for young people in contact with the criminal justice system.

 

 

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Occupational Therapist: bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in occupational therapy and hold general registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).


  • Social Worker: bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in social work and hold professional membership or be eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).


  • Psychologist: Minimum of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology and hold general registration with Psychology Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Highly desirable is approval or eligibility for approval as a Psychology Board of Australia Supervisor.

  •         Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2): Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia. Three years full-time clinical experience working in the related specialty field and post graduate qualifications in the specialty.

                Note: To be appointed as a Level 3 Health Professional, evidence must be provided of three years' clinical experience and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a Level 3 practitioner.
