The Role

The Forensic Hospital Physiotherapist is responsible for the provision of physiotherapy treatment to patients within the Forensic Hospital. The position holder will assess treat and prevents disorders in human movement caused by injury or disease.
The position holder will provide high quality clinical service commensurate with their level to patients to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for patients.
 
Improving physical health outcomes and reducing the risk of early mortality in Forensic Hospital patients is a priority. Mental health and physical health are inextricably linked and people with mental illnesses are increasingly likely to develop physical illness.
The physiotherapist is part of the better living team who target the physical health of mental health patients in the Forensic Hospital.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in physiotherapy and hold general registration with Physiotherapy Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation

 

Our Location, Team, and Service

 

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients. 

A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care. 

 

While working at the Forensic Hospital, you will develop strong professional connections with colleagues and making a positive contribution to vulnerable people. This dynamic work environment is interesting, stimulating, challenging, rewarding and one where you can have a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families.

 

A comprehensive two-week full-time orientation is provided for all new staff at Forensic Hospital, with the next 2 intake dates being 26 May 2025 and 4 August 2025.
