What you'll be doing

The Senior Allied Health Clinician is responsible for the clinical leadership, supervision, mentoring and professional development of Allied Health staff within their portfolio. The position reports to the Allied Health Manager at Illawarra Drug and Alcohol Service, depending on their location. 


The Senior Allied Health Clinician is responsible for delivering and overseeing the provision of timely, effective, and high-quality Drug & Alcohol counselling and support to patients, clients, consumers, and their family/carers and to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with ISLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist or Social Work degree and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the Psychology/AASW Code of Ethics.
  2. Demonstrated experience as clinician working at a higher level within counselling models of care and knowledge of; child protection, domestic violence, mental illness, and cultural diversity.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and high-level clinical support and supervision within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to mentor, and support others in practice changes, gathering data, managing risk and reflective practice.
  5. Demonstrated experience of providing drug and alcohol counselling, and the development and facilitation of group programs.
  6. Demonstrated advanced communication skills (both written and oral) and competence in the use of electronic information systems in addition to excellent negotiation, complex decision making, case planning and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff.
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
