As a Registered Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering evidence-based nursing care to older people with complex health needs. Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will utilise your clinical skills, critical thinking, and compassion to advocate for patients and contribute to their recovery, rehabilitation, and wellbeing.

What You'll Be Doing

·       Delivering safe, high-quality nursing care to older adults with acute and complex health needs

·       Undertaking comprehensive patient assessments and developing person-centred care plans

·       Collaborating with medical, allied health, and nursing teams to optimise patient outcomes

·       Supporting patients with dementia, delirium, frailty, and mobility challenges

·       Providing education and support to patients, carers, and families

·       Promoting patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice

·       Mentoring and supporting junior staff and students within the clinical environment

The Acute Geriatric Unit provides specialised care for older patients with complex medical, cognitive, and functional needs. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes for older people throughout their hospital journey.

Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical, mental health and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on ventilated, high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre.

The hospital is currently undergoing a significant $440M redevelopment that will redefine how healthcare is delivered within the Region. Once complete in 2026, the new seven-storey Acute Services Building and refurbishments on the current hospital site will bring a focus on career development. allowing you to grow your career, acquire new skills and advance professionally as the hospital continues to develop. Within this redevelopment, a purpose-designed Mental Health Inpatient Unit will open for the first time at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital, providing local consumers with access to comprehensive inpatient mental health care closer to home.
