Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding career in community health? An exciting opportunity exists for an Occupational Therapist to join the highly supportive and experienced Community Occupational Therapy service at Southcare, located in the beautiful Sutherland Shire. 

Where you'll be working
The Community Occupational Therapy service is situated within Southcare at The Sutherland Hospital- the Sutherland Shire's uniquely integrated community health services hub for aged and extended care. Southcare is committed to providing quality services, care and support, and to improving the health and wellbeing of its residents. The Sutherland Shire is located within Dharawal Country, and is known for its beautiful coastal lifestyle and friendly people. It has access to transport links, including a short walk from Caringbah and/or Miranda train station, a range of local bus services, and Miranda Westfields. 
The Community Occupational Therapy team is an experienced team and will offer support and development in core community OT skills as required. The Community Occupational Therapy team also works in conjunction with the wider Southcare multidisciplinary team. The team is supportive of one another's professional and personal well-being, and keep the workplace a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. 

What you'll be doing
You will be predominantly working with the aged population, with the aim of optimising function and maintaining clients in their homes to prevent hospitalisation and support discharge from hospital. Some work with clients aged under 65 years, who have chronic illnesses.

Plan, coordinate and deliver high quality Community Occupational Therapy care to Southcare clients consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and current registration with AHPRA.
  2. Current Class C NSW drivers licence or equivalent
  3. Relevant and recent post graduate experience working in a community setting with the adult aged and disabled population
  4. Demonstrated experience in prescription of equipment and home modifications.
  5. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery
  6. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  7. Demonstrated ability in time management skills and in managing a busy caseload
  8. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
