Role Purpose

This position is consumer-focused and is responsible for providing high quality Physiotherapy assessment and intervention to people living with movement disorders to facilitate and support hospital discharge, to provide interventions to support hospital avoidance, and to improve the lives of people living in the community by providing access to Physiotherapy care.   

The Physiotherapist works collaboratively with the Occupational Therapist as a team to provide a SESLHD-wide service that is integrated with our specialists services hospital and community based services. As senior allied health professionals, the OT and PT also provide professional development for our workforce, and lead improvement, research and innovation in care.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and The Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in movement disorders/ or neuroscience, and in models of care that support people to live in their community, i.e. hospital avoidance, or post-acute care.
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  4. Proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence
  5. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a complex nature
  6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
  8.  Current unrestricted Driver's licence, valid in NSW
