What you'll be doing
The Director Quality & Safety Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals works to promote a culture of patient safety and quality across BMDH.   The role leads and drives change to improve operational effectiveness.
The role includes the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based change strategies to improve the quality and safety of services and care; building and maintaining the capacity of managers, clinicians and support staff to improve systems and practices; and delivering operational excellence by improving value.
The Director is expected to actively lead and support governance, quality, safety, ministerial and patient complaints, process improvement and project management, including issues analysis, policy development, evidence-based decision making and clinical risk management.
Portfolio management includes direct responsibility for infection prevention and control; clinical emergency response systems; accreditation; pharmacy and imaging.
The Director has a team including the Quality & Accreditation Manager; Patient Safety & Quality Officers; and Clinical Governance Support Officers.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary health qualifications or extensive experience utilising highly developed understanding in the application and evaluation of patient quality and safety systems, programs and methodologies.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of delivering operational excellence by successfully leading and driving improvements via best practice adoption, developing creative and innovative solutions, ensuring alignment of goals and objectives, and strategic effective resource planning to deliver results
  3. Highly developed improvement methodology skills. Certification or equivalent working knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies – Lean/Six Sigma; Black belt preferred.
  4. Demonstrated leadership, coaching, project management, mentoring and training skills to support a range of change management initiatives.
  5. Demonstrated diplomacy and effective functioning and communication in a matrix environment, with the ability to organize and lead cross functional teams and align team members.
  6. Demonstrated analytical capability to find systemic issues to root cause, and creates action plans to mitigate, close and/ or eliminate.
  7. Highly level verbal and written communication; data analytic and reporting skills.
